On Tuesday, April 16, 2024, Biskra University commemorated the Science Day, headed by the University Rector Mr. Mahmoud Debabeche with the university community,

local civil and security authorities’ representatives and the revolutionary family. During his opening speech, the Rector recalled the legacy of Sheikh Abdelhamid Ibn Badis, of free men who devoted their lives to science, defying colonial schemes to annihilate the national and religious Algerian identity. He referred to the achievements made since the conquest of freedom in the Algerian educational system until the present day, with various advancements and developments. He called on learners to strive for science and technology with mindsets to keep abreast with progress. The Wilaya Inspector General ensured the event opening on behalf of the Wali. He expressed his pride of Biskra University to commemorate this anniversary, as a message that transcends time and place. He stressed the symbolism of this
day, which cannot be erased from memory, urging students to follow the example of their
ancestors. This day's programme includes displaying a video of national competition for
environmental education qualified students and honouring them with the Russian language
teacher at the CEIL, Vera Mikhaylova, and Biskra University researchers who published class
A+articles. Honouring also singled out ‘My Thesis Competition in 180 seconds’ winner,
Osama Bouais, along with the owners of innovative projects that won the labelling. The
delegation eventually visited the students who own 2023/2024 emerging institutions, and the
work of scientific student clubs. A programme will continue until tomorrow with workshops
on artificial intelligence.
